Base Metals

Tin

Tin is a malleable, ductile, and highly crystalline silvery-white metal. In modern times tin is used in many alloys, most notably in tin/lead soft solders, typically containing 60% or more of tin. This application accounts for about 50% of produced Tin. Another large application is corrosion resistant tin plating of steel (accounts for about 15% of produced Tin). Because of its low toxicity, tin plated metal is also used for food packaging.
